Ulta Haul

Today I have an Ulta haul. I received my rewards coupon in the mail and redeemed my points as well as picked up a few things. The first two things I picked up today I received for free. The first is a Hot Tools 2 inch curling iron. I love my Hot Tools straight iron so I am sure I will love the curling iron. My next free item was Armani Code. I really like the smell and this is my first time trying it out. Maybe I will do a review soon!

Ulta was having a special if you bought $17.50 in Ulta cosmetics you received a free gift. I bought two precision liquid eye liners in carbon black and grey smoke. I also purchased an eyebrow pencil in warm brown. The free gift came with a handful of goodies. I received two eye shadow quads, mascara, dual eye/lip pencil, a dual eye pencil, a lipstick, a nail polish, three brushes, and a dual lip-gloss. They are all very neutral in color which I like especially for work.
The last thing I bought was the Tarte True Blood palette. I am in love with the colors! They are gorgeous and I can’t wait to try them out. I love creating new eye looks and the colors are very pigmented which is perfect because they last a little longer than usual.
Thanks for reading and until next time, stay beautiful and don’t forget your lip-gloss!

A hint of golden natural....

Happy Monday! I am so happy that the day is almost over. One day down, only three more to go before I start my weekend. It is going to be a busy weekend which will be a nice distraction since next week probably won’t be so great for me. Today I went for a more natural look. The face routine is the same from yesterday minus the highlight. I used Penny Lane by NARS again. I love this color. I just can’t stop gushing about how great it looks on my face!

My eyes are simple today. I used my Urban Decay Naked palette and a few colors from MAC. With a small eye shadow brush, I lightly put naked from the UD palette all over my lid. I did not take it past the crease. It is a very natural color and it is darker than my skin tone. I mixed MAC woodwinked and satin taupe and blended them into my crease with my MAC 217 brush. In the outer corners, I took mystery from MAC and very lightly dabbed it on. I used my blending brush to blend all the colors together. Going back to the UD palette, I put half-baked on the center of my lid. Once again, I used vanilla as my highlight and then added exquisite from LAsplash to give a little sheen to my eye. I used my favorite eyeliner, UD 24/7 glide on pencil in whiskey. I love the color. It is the perfect shade of brown. I put a little bit of mystery over it to keep it in place. I smudged whiskey on my lower lash line and velvet from NYX on the water line. Lastly, I used Bad Gal Lash mascara.

My lips were a little darker than usual. I used Revlon Just bitten in Twilight and then put Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick and lip glass over it. I love lip stains because after the actual lipstick fades, there is still some color on my lips and I don’t have to worry about them looking too pale because yes, my lips are also pale without some type of product on them!

I hope you enjoyed today’s look. I have been doing a lot of purple/blue looks and I wanted to do something different. During the week, I try to keep things fairly natural. Thanks for stopping by!

Purple People Eater...

Happy Easter! I was going to do an Easter themed makeup look but I am not into pastels. I am much too fair and I just don’t like them! So instead of pastel, I went for a purple theme since I just painted my nails purple yesterday. According to a website I came across, you should wear purple/violet when you want to:  to use your imagination to it’s fullest; to re-balance your life; to remove obstacles; to calm over activity or to energize from depression. I thought it seemed fitting for today. I don’t have any major plans today but I am going to dinner with my sister tonight. I will stop rambling and get on with the makeup.
First, as always I started with foundation. I used Almay Clear Complexion foundation in ivory. My skin is driving me nuts lately and I have been really breaking out. This foundation has salycilic acid which helps with my blemishes. I used the same concealer I always do followed by my mineralized skin finish that I mentioned in my previous post. For my blush, I used NARS cream blush in Penny Lane. This is my absolute favorite blush right now. It looks so natural on my skin. I used MAC by Candlelight to highlight my cheekbones.
For the eye lid, I used Too Faced Romantic Eye palette in the color cut the cake. I love this purple. It looks purple with a hint of grey. I love it. On the very inner corner, I used the lightest purple in the Rimmel quad in Dark Signature. I went back to the Romantic Eye palette and used First Dance in my crease and blended it out. Then I used the darkest purple from the Rimmel quad in the outer corner and once again, blend, blend, and blend. I used Kiss the Bride and Soulmates from the Romantic Eye palette to highlight my brow bone. I used my Maybelline gel eye liner in eggplant on my upper lash line and lightly applied First Dance over it. On my lower lash/water line, I used NYX Velvet. It is a gold brown color and it really helps brighten my eyes without having to use white eyeliner. I smudged First dance on the lower lash line. Then, for the first time I used a glitter loose shadow from Lasplash. The color is gorgeous and it adds a really nice shimmer to my eyes. The color is Exquisite and it is a very pale gold. Review to come soon!  Lastly, I used Maybelline One by One mascara in very black.
I kept the lips very neutral. I used NYX lip pencil in beige all over my lips. I lightly put NYX Iced Honey lipstick over it followed by MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 lip glass. This completes the look. I know there is always a lot going on with the eyes but I do have the most fun with them. I hope you enjoyed and never forget your lip-gloss!

Blue, Blue, Blue

My makeup today is very simple. I wasn’t in the mood to do too much today but I wanted to share what I did anyway. I started using a new foundation today. I used Neutrogena Sheer Glow foundation in the lightest shade.  It doesn’t have a lot of coverage so I had to use more of my concealer but I like that it doesn’t feel like I am wearing a whole lot of makeup. As always, I set it with a powder. I usually go back and forth between my FitMe powder in 110 or my MAC mineralized skin finish in light. Today I went over my foundation with MAC since it gives more coverage. I used my usual bronzer (Maybelline FitMe in light). My blush is an ELF blush in Peachy Keen.
My eyes are usually my main feature. Since I wear glasses, I want to make sure my eyes pop. Today I went for a blue theme. I primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion. I started with Nylon by MAC all over the lid and then on the outer third of the lid I put Prussian by Mac. I used a flat eye shadow brush for both colors. I blend the colors with my blending brush. In my crease, I lightly used a dark blue from the NYX eye shadow trio in Lake Moss. You have to try out this trio. Maybe I will do a review on it soon! Once again, I blended the colors. I used Vanilla and a little bit of Nylon from MAC to highlight my brow bone and inner corner of my eye. I used a little bit of MAC All that Glitters on the center of my lid. I took NYX eye pencil in Sapphire and lined my upper and lower lash line. I put the dark blue from NYX over the upper lash line and I used Prussian and the dark blue on my lower lash line. Lastly, I used my favorite mascara, Bad Gal Lash. Before I went out and about, I did use Peony by NYX on the lips followed by a Philosophy lip-gloss in coconut.
This is definitely not my best look but I really wanted to do a blue themed eye look. I hope you enjoy.
Stay beautiful and never forget your lip-gloss!

Going Green

I love the weekends. I actually have the time to play around with my makeup and create more dramatic looks. My look today may not be work/school appropriate but it is a great for a night or it can be toned down if needed. Lately, I have been really into greens. They go really well with my skin tone and browns eyes. I will take you step by step through the process (minus the foundation routine/blush). So let’s get started!
First, I took Humid from Mac and used a Mac 239 brush all over the lid. I made sure it was even but did not take it into the crease. I used a blending brush from the Body Shop to blend out the color and get rid of the harsh lines. Next, I took the lightest green in the Rimmel London Tempting Trio and put in on the inner half of my lid. I used the Mac 239 brush and blended into Humid. In my crease, I used the darkest green from the same trio. I used a Mac 217 brush. I then used the blending brush again to blend and smooth out the harsh lines. I used Mac 219 pencil brush and put Plumage from Mac on the outer corner of my lid and crease. I made sure to blend it in with the other colors. To add some shimmer to the look, I put Mac Steamy lightly on my lid. Then I used the third color from the trio and blended it in on my brow bone and worked into the crease. The last eye shadow I used was Vanilla from Mac and I used this on my brow bone and around the eye to clean it up. On my lower lash line, I took Plumage, Humid, and the Rimmel trio and smudged it out. I took black gel eyeliner from Maybelline and lined my upper and lower lash line and winged it out. To make sure it stayed, I put Carbon from Mac over it. Lastly, black mascara finished the eye look. Since it such a dark look, I went for a nude lip. I used Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick/lipglass and added a touch of red lipgloss in the center. The look is complete. Below I have step by step images to help anyone recreate the look. Stay beautiful and Go Green!
