February MyGlam Bag

Hello everyone! Today I receive my first MyGlam bag and I will have to say I am much happier with the products inside than I was with the Birch Box products. My first impression was the samples were actually a lot bigger than the samples in my Birch Box but I was disappointed about only receiving ONE make up product. The pictures below were actually taken as soon as I received my bag. You get see things as I took them out of the bag.

The first product I pulled out was the X Out Shine control moisturizer. It is supposed to keep you shine free and have a mattifying complex. First impression- I was pleasantly surprised about how large the sample was and I believe this is what a sample should be like. I tested the product on my hand and it blended well but it smells. It is not overpowering or intolerable but it is not a smell I particularly enjoy. However, I may get some use out of it.

The second product I pulled out was the Premier Dead Sea Cinderella Mask. At first I thought there were two of the same samples in the pink pouch but after further investigating, I found there were two separate products. The first one was the instant stretching and revitalizing mask. It states that wrinkles and marks will look less apparent after use. We shall see. I don’t have any wrinkles but I do have marks. The second product was the Premier moisture complex. My guess is that it is to be used after the mask. I have tried dead see products before and they burn like a mutha. It felt like my skin was on fire. Hopefully I do not have the same issue this time.

The next thing in there was a $100 gift certificate from NuMe. It can be used towards professional styling tools and hair extensions. My first complaint is most of the products cost much more than a $100 and the cheapest styling tool is a mini straightner for a $115. I don’t really see use for a mini straightner. I think it is kind of a waste because no matter what I buy, I am looking at spending at least $20-$50 once you include tax, shipping and handling. I haven’t decided if I am going to get anything yet.

The forth product was another mask. Seriously, another one? It is the Freeman Facial Hydration Mask in Goji Berry. I really don’t have a thought about the mask. I don’t even know what goji berry smells like but hopefully it is a pleasant smell especially if I am going to leave it on my face for 10 minutes.

Finally, we are getting to the only makeup product in the bag. It is the NYX Roll On Shimmer in Taupe. It can be used on the eyes, face, and body. First of all, why would I put this on my body? I tested it on my skin and cannot imagine wearing this on my body. It rubbed right off as well so I am concerned about how long it will last on the eyes. The color is nice and I can see myself wearing it but the longevity is a concern. Maybe I will use it in an upcoming look.

The last thing was Ghirardelli chocolate. I know people love Ghirardelli but I really don’t get the hype. Don’t get me wrong, I ate it right away and it was good but not my favorite chocolate ever.

So I don’t hate the products in this bag but I still wish for more makeup products. I love NYX products but I can drive to Ulta and pick up a product anytime I want. I hope the next bag will have more makeup products. The company is fairly new (this is only their third month) and I will give them a chance. Hopefully next month will include more than one makeup sample. Until next time, thank you for stopping by and I hope you all have a great day!

February Birch Box 2012

Hello everyone! I finally received my first Birchbox and I am kind of disappointed. There weren’t really any products that I would use and enjoy. There was an item that I loathe and I don’t really understand why it was even in there. I don’t think any item was really worth $10. It is definitely a bummer since I was so excited about getting my first box. I have inserted pictures of the box as I “unboxed” it. I technically opened it before so the presentation isn’t as nice as it was when I first opened it.

First of all, I was really impressed by the actually shipping package and the box itself. The box is incredibly cute and I can definitely use it for some kind of organization or storage idea. When you first open it, you will see the “spotlight” card that talks about the box and the contents inside. The first product is Benta Berry- G1 Moisturizing Face Cream. It is from a French skincare line. The cream should regulate oil levels and keeps skin matte. I will give this product a try but the sample is so small, I am not sure how much use one can get out of it. I am not crazy about the smell but the texture is not terrible after it dries.

The second product is Juice Beauty- Blemish Clearing Serum. I do have problem skin but it contains salicylic acid and it just doesn’t work for me. I need something stronger so I may or may not use this product. It is an organic product. The scent is not great and I am not sure if I want to smell it on my face all day.
The next product was a sample of Viva La Juicy. I already own the full size of this perfume and a sample. I guess I can throw one of my samples in a travel bag. I do like the scent but I don’t go through it fast enough to need another sample. At least it has the potential of being used and I enjoy the scent although you have to apply very little because it is very fragrant.

My favorite thing in the box was the chocolate they included. It is Chuao Chocolatier- Spicy Maya ChocoPod. It is dark chocolate laced with chile and cayenne pepper. It didn’t last long. I love the spicy sweetness to it. I have had spiced chocolate before and it has always been good. I will say this chocolate definitely has a kick to it. The chile and cayenne pepper are very noticeable. If there was any more in the chocolate, it would be too much. I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate but then again, I love chocolate!  The chocolate is what they call a “lifestyle extra”. I am glad it was in the box because then I would be without something I really liked.
They also included a digital download. According to the card, I will get six free songs from Green River Ordinance. They are an indie rock band. I think I know a song by them but I can’t really recall it. I guess I will find out soon.

The last product is the absolute worst product in history of products. It is Eye Rock- Designer Liner. I bet you are thinking what is so bad about an eye liner? Well, it is not eyeliner. It is a pack of four single-use stick on liner strips. So basically, it is a sticker that you put on your eyes. Who wants to put a sticker on their lash line? I can’t even image what I am going to do with them. It is such a waste. They can’t be comfortable. I guess I will try it out over the weekend but I make no promises. I don’t think they can be worn for an entire day. The package states they last 16 hours but I have my doubts.

So that is February’s Birchbox. If you don’t count the music download, it came with 5 products. Two of the products were pretty good but that included the chocolate. It is pretty sad when the best product in a beauty box is chocolate. I also included the perfume since I do already own it and know I like it. The face cream and the blemish serum are ok but nothing to get too excited about. Of course, I don’t think I need to even mention the last product since it was so shameful. I expected more since it was my first box. I know others on YouTube received better products but overall, most are disappointed with this month’s box. I will see what next month brings before I decide to cancel or not. If next month is as bad as this box, I will have to call it quits. Thanks for reading everyone and I will be back soon!
Have a great day!
