The Curse of Foundations and a Mini Haul.

Today I was on a mission, a shopping mission to be exact. In my last post, I mentioned how fed up I was with foundations. I am extremely fair and it is so frustrating when I can never find an inexpensive foundation that will suit my skin tone. I have even tried high end foundations and they just do not work! It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t need the coverage but I do. Unfortunately, I still have problematic skin and I need a full coverage foundation to hide the spots as well as a foundation that will last. I work long hours and nothing is worse when at the end of the day my face looks it has been through hell and back. The past couple of weeks have been awful and I have had it.

So today I ventured to the mall and I knew exactly where I was headed. I have heard nothing but good things about Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and I had to see if there was even a color out there for me.  A very nice lady helped me today match a foundation. In the store, it looked perfect but the real test will be how it holds up tomorrow. Either way, I was very pleased with her assistance and with the color. Plus, it is also nice to hear that my skin has a peaches and cream quality to it. Over the week, I am going to use the foundation and next weekend I will let you all know what I think .If you are curious, I bought the foundation in Shell. It is a cool tone foundation. We tried the neutral but it was just too dark. She also talked me into the press powder in the same brand and color. She was also kind enough to give me a few samples of Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher and a sample of Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I need everyone to cross their fingers for me and pray that this is finally the foundation for me!

Of course I can never go to the mall without dropping by Sephora. I made an impulse buy and bought the last Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. I think I will like the colors more than the first Naked palette. They have a cooler tone than the first and plus I received the brush and lip-gloss with it. I am relieved they did not give out the primer potion with it.  I am not a fan anymore and I would have hated to receive another! I also came across a huge surprise at the mall. It finally has its own MAC cosmetics store! I was good and only picked up a Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in light.
Overall, I feel like it was a successful outing but I don’t think my debit card feels the same. I am really excited to use all the new products I bought/received today.  This will probably be my last big purchase for awhile. I really need to stop buying makeup products especially since I just subscribed to Birchbox and MyGlam bag. I will doing posts on those when I receive them. Until then, thanks for stopping by.

Stay beautiful and don’t forget your lip-gloss!

Two Make Up Looks for the Price of One Post

Today I am bringing you two different makeup looks. I am trying to get back into the habit of writing but it is so hard to get started again. So hopefully this will be enough to appease you for the time being.
Here is the first look.

My “normal” foundation for the time being is Clinque Even Better in Linen (24) mixed with L’Oreal True Match foundation in Porcelain (W1). I have to move past this part quickly because I may just start to rant and it will not be pretty. I will leave that for another day. I used my go to concealer which is the Make Up Forever full cover concealer in number one. This is my Holy Grail concealer. I have yet to find anything that covers as great as this concealer. Under my eyes I used the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer in the lightest color (the name escapes me). I used a light translucent powder to set my foundation.  On the cheeks I believed a used Nars Doucer and then used MAC By Candlelight to highlight. I am so sad they discontinued By Candlelight. I keep hoping it will come back out in a new collection soon.
The fun part is definitely the eyes! I primed my eyes using my MAC painterly paint pot. I started off using Sushi flower by MAC (check out my previous post to see the colors of all MAC shadows). I put this all over the lid but concentrated most of the color towards the middle of the lid. In my crease, I used MAC Cranberry.  I blended this with sushi flower. This really helped because sushi flower can be a VERY bright color and the cranberry helps warm it up. In the outer corner, I very lightly dusted MAC Shadowy lady. I also made sure to add all three colors on my lower lash line. In the inner corner and as the highlight, I used Maybelline’s Linen eye shadow.  I used my new favorite eyeliner on my upper and lower lash line. It is the NYX glide on eye pencil in brown perfection. On the upper lash line I lightly patted on MAC Mystery over the brown pencil. I used Benefit They’re Real mascara in black to finish off the look.
Last but not least I used NYX lipstick in Paris mixed with MAC Nymphette. I may have used another color as well but it was a couple of days ago and really cannot recall but I did set my all my make up with MAC Fix +.
This next makeup look is a low key and appropriate for work. I try not to bring in too many colors for work especially when some of it does fade before it is time to go home.

I used the same foundation routine as the previous look except I used a MAC blush in Dame.  Dame is a really soft pink color and goes well with fair skin. My only complaint is the color pay off. It is not very pigmented and I feel like I am constantly adding more. You can tell in the pictures that I kept adding but I swear by the time I got work, you could barely tell there was even a flush to my skin.
I primed my eyes with MAC painterly paint pot. The first color I used was MAC All that Glitters. I used this all over the eye lid and slightly into the crease. I brought it down onto my lower lash line as well. In my crease, I used one of my favorite MAC eye shadows. Copperplate is a beautiful gray brown shadow. It doesn’t look like much in the pan but looks amazing on the eye. I lightly added this to my crease and added just a hint on my lower lash line. In the inner corner, highlight and to clean the edges I used linen by Maybelline. Once again, I used my favorite eyeliner and shadow combination for my upper and lower lash line. A little bit of Maybelline’s one by one mascara in very black finished the eye look off. Since my eyes were fairly natural, I did use MAC Crosswires lipstick to add some color to the overall look (check out my lipstick collection to see the color). Once I was at work, I did add a little gloss.
I hope you enjoyed the looks today. The pictures are not great but the natural look was from this morning and it was only 4:45 am and I was not awake enough to be engaged.

All About MAC- Lipstick Collection

MAC lipsticks are by far my favorite lip products...EVER! They gone on so smooth and the even smell nice. They are not cheap but they are worth every penny I spend on them. If I could own all of the MAC lipsticks, I would! I pretty much ignore all of my other lipsticks because I rather wear one of my lipsticks instead. I listed the ones I own below and I have included pictures and swatches!
1. Honeylove- Matte
2. Shygirl- Cremesheen
3. Please Me- Matte
4. Brave- Satin
5. Angel- Frost
6. Blankety- Amplified
7. Crosswires- Cremesheen
8. Till Tomorrow- Pro Longwear lip creme
9. Viva Glam Gaga 2- Amplified
10. Viva Glam Gaga 2- Lipglass
11. Nymphette- Lipglass

My favorite would have to be Honeylove. I always try to find a way to wear it everyday and I always have it on me. Blanketly is a close second and the texture is flawless. If I could make love to inanimate object, it would be these lipsticks!

I hope you all have a great day!

LIPSTICK COLLECTION AND SWATCHES

All About MAC- Mini Haul

Hello Everyone! I know I have been gone a really long time but I am back now. I just received a package from MAC and I really want someone else to see my excitement. So today, I am bringing you three different things: a haul, my eyeshadow palettes and my lipstick collection.

My brother gave me a MAC gift card for Christmas and I was so excited to choose my items. I ended up spending some of my own money but it was totally worth it. One of the must have items was a new palette. I didn’t have any more room in my other palette and I still had more shadows to add to it. The MAC palettes hold 15 shadows and it is easy/small enough to take traveling.

I also had to have the lip-gloss Nymphette. I heard so many great things about it and I wanted to try if for myself. It is a tinted lip-gloss and it can be described as a golden pink. It does have a frost finish.

I was so excited to try a new lipstick and I picked Crosswires which is a crème sheen. This is definitely a bold color and it will be a great starter “red” lipstick. It is an orangish pinky color.

I have always wanted to try out a paint pot but I had a hard time justifying the cost. However, I finally gave in and bought the painterly paint pot. I am excited to use this tomorrow!

The last items I purchased were all eyeshadows. I have four of them and you can see the picture below.

Stay tuned....

EYE SHADOW PALETTES ARE NEXT!
