Products I finished in 2012
Foundations:
I mentioned Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation in my
previous post about foundations (Here is the link: http://beautyandme0607.blogspot.com/2012/04/foundations-why-cant-there-be-one-just.html).
I finally finished the bottle not long after the post. I was not happy with
this foundation at all. The coverage and staying power were fine; it just
looked awful on my skin. I had the color Shell 15. It is the lightest color
they make. It was too dark and I believe it oxidized slightly. It just didn’t
work for me. I cannot explain how badly I needed and wanted it to. I think this
would work fine if you had a darker skin tone than I do. Just make sure to work
quickly when applying it. It dries fast and it is a mother to fix any mistakes.
It wasn’t the worst product ever made but I will not be repurchasing the
product.
My Score: 5/10
I finished
Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily Skin in 110 Ivory back in May This is
another product that is hard to work with and I mentioned it in the previous
blog post as well (the link is above). Once again, I will not repurchase this
particular product. I prefer the formula for normal skin.
My Score: 5/10
***I must have already tossed the bottle so I am not able to insert the picture here***
The foundation I have probably bought the most out of any
foundation has been L’Oreal True Match foundation in W1- Porcelain. I really
like how light this foundation is on the skin and how easy it is to blend. It
matches well with my skin but I wish it had more coverage and staying power
throughout the day. I have already repurchased another but I haven’t been
reaching for it as much over the past few months.
My Score: 7/10
A product that I have really grown to love over the past 6
months has been CoverGirl AquaSmooth foundation in Ivory. It is too dark to
wear on its own but when mixed with a white liquid foundation it looks great on
the skin. It is still a little too dark and pink toned for my skin but I love
the way it feels on my skin and it has good staying power throughout the day.
It works best when it is applied with a Beauty Blender Sponge.
My Score: 7/10
So I finally bought the foundation I had wanted to try for
months and it has become one of my favorite and most used foundations. I
absolutely love Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Siberia. This foundation matches
my extremely fair skin better than any foundation I have tried. It has a slight
yellow tone that works well with my skin. The only drawback is that it goes
quick and the staying power could be better. I still haven’t found a foundation
that is a 100% perfect but this one comes really close. I have already
repurchased it and I will purchase it again.
My Score: 8/10
I am still looking for the perfect tinted moisturizer that
matches well with my skin. For the past couple of years my go to tinted
moisturizer has been Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free formula in
Porcelain. I really do like this product but it doesn’t provide a lot of
coverage but it is buildable. The color is a little dark for my skin tone but I
can make it work on days I go to the gym or in the summer. On the plus side, a
little goes a long way. I have repurchased this product as well but once I
finish the second tube I will probably try a more affordable brand.
My Score: 6/10
I also love L’Oreal's True Match foundation, in fact I've been using the True Match Lumi for the past few months and really like it. I have to wear a makeup setting spray though, and I still don't love the fact that it doesn't stay on all day, but it works for now. I'm going to have to try the Nars Sheer Glow though! How much did it cost?
ReplyDeleteNars isn't cheap. It is $42 but sometimes Sephora offers discounts. I would try to get a sample at department store. I think Nordstroms or Neiman Marcus carries the line. I would try a sample before you do buy a full size. I have had the worst time with foundations. They either don't last or it looks horrible at the end of the day. I use a setting spray too but it doesn't make much of a difference.
